(P1014AP10)
This device was brought by a customer to my shop and explained that it suddenly stopped working. He opened it and replaced the fuse and the fuse blew. He did not put everything back together; he just brought it to me with the cover off.
I never worked on this kind of satellite receiver before that is why I was shocked to see what inside of it.
It was almost empty. There were only two tiny boards there. I can tell this was a cheap satellite receiver and I was hesitant to get it fixed.
This is the power supply and as you can see the power IC is missing. I have soldered it out because when I was using the light bulb trick, the light remained bright indicating a serious short in the power supply. The moment I took the IC out (P1014AP10) the short was gone. This IC has only seven pins, four on one side and only three on the other.
In my case, there was a serious short between the pins number 5, 4 and 8. This also caused a short in the main capacitor, 22uf, 450 volts, four diodes and the main fuse.
I replaced all of them, the diodes, the capacitors but I could not locate the IC anywhere. It was a hard part to find. So I called all the technician friends and one of them was able to help me. He provided me with this strange looking IC.
